San Francisco's LSD and the Search for God made this five-song debut with two guitars, bass, drums, and shared vocals from Sophia Campbell and Andy Liszt. The guitars do most of the heavy lifting, circling the pop hooks with fuzz, feedback, and long drone tones rather than settling for a clean indie-rock mix. There’s a clear pull toward the early Creation Records sound, with the spacious guitar blur of shoegaze and the loose, heady feel of psychedelic rock. “this time,” “i don’t care,” “backwards,” “starting over,” and “starshine” keep the set compact, but the textures give the songs more room than their short running time suggests.
Produced and mixed by heavengoing, the EP was recorded at New Future Vintage in Oakland, engineered by Ron Guensche, and mastered at Sunsplit Studios. That local studio connection fits the band’s place in San Francisco’s underground psych and shoegaze scene, while the mix puts the guitars right up front without losing the vocals. People still reaching for Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, or The Telescopes will know the general direction, though this leans toward pop as often as noise. It’s a paid release with FLAC, ALAC, WAV, and AIFF available, alongside CD and vinyl.
