Bowling Shoes put guitars, synths and a full rhythm section through a Boston indie-rock lens on FACTORY POP. The 14-track set leans into power-pop hooks, new-wave keyboards and the clipped tension of post-punk, with saxophone and backing vocals adding extra colour around the core lineup. Tracks such as “Bang,” “Laundry” and “Social Rot” suggest a band happy to move between direct pop writing and rougher, more wiry textures, while the run of short, punchy titles keeps the album moving.
Bowling Shoes have been active since 2018, and this second LP is a fully self-directed production, written and arranged by the band and engineered by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Bermel. The credits point to a busy studio setup, with Bermel, Ben Walker, Dimitri Christo and Sam Nazaretian covering guitars and synths, alongside bass, drums, percussion and saxophone from the wider group. Darren Lawson handled the mix, with mastering by Felix Davis at Metropolis Studios. FACTORY POP is available as a paid release on CD and in lossless formats, a good fit for anyone after hooky guitar pop with a post-punk bite rather than polished playlist filler.
