Abisal is the six-track meeting point of DNGDNGDNG and Prisma, a Lima-connected electronic project released through Dengue Dengue Dengue. Its tags give a clear sense of the approach, with IDM detail, bass weight, club pressure and the rhythmic pull of cumbia and dancehall. The track titles move from Umbral to Goblinator, Legamo and Despacio before reaching Ripio and the title track, suggesting a set with room for both impact and slower shifts.
The album’s idea comes from looking down into the deep, then zooming in on the small chemical, geological and organic changes that can produce something much larger. That gives the music a useful frame without turning it into a lecture. DNGDNGDNG and Prisma first met backstage at Fusion Festival near Berlin in 2016, later collaborating on Pacos for Dengue Dengue Dengue’s Zenith & Nadir, remixes and a three-track EP on Tratratrax. Jaijiu co-produced Ripio, while Seph handled mastering and Laust Højgaard made the cover. It should land with people who want club music with a stranger, more exploratory edge, especially fans of leftfield bass and cumbia-informed electronics.
