r u s s e l b u c k’s RAVEPOP REMIXES pulls together producers from the furry community for fifteen new takes on material from the RAVEPOP orbit. It comes from an Orlando artist active since 2016, and the guest list gives the release its shape, with contributions from Maple, Verplex, alottadogs, Wyntr. Bloghaund, BASSDOG, Ricco Harver, Dr. Deimos, telemist and others. The source material points toward hyperpop, pop and electronic music, but this isn’t a set of near-identical club edits.
The running order starts in a more approachable place, then gradually pushes toward heavier and stranger territory. Wyntr. appears several times, while Bloghaund gets two passes at “b-b-BASS DOWN LOW” and “JUST BE COMPETENT.” Near the end, r u s s e l b u c k contributes “b-b-BASS DOWN LOW (GABBER TIME),” and “PERFUMÉ!!!” brings in DJ BROOKLYN DJ for a track made in the same RAVEPOP spirit. Fans of furry-made electronic music, hyperpop remixes and gabber’s harder edge will have plenty to investigate here.
