ZANCTION’s VIRTUAL_LUXURY is built around the language of old computers. Its ten tracks move from POWERON through DESKTOP, FILEMANAGER and NETWORKCENTER to POWERDOWN, giving the album a clear desktop-era frame without needing much explanation. The tags point to a mix of vaporwave, synthpop, house, R&B, soul and trap, with 80s and 90s references alongside late-night lo-fi. It sounds aimed at the overlap between club music and the glow of a CRT screen, though the source material doesn’t offer enough detail to pin down particular instruments or production tricks.
ZANCTION has been active since 2020, and the release is credited solely to the artist. Defiance is attached to the release, which places it within the independent electronic scene suggested by its tags. VIRTUAL_LUXURY is available free in MP3, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF, with a CD and cassette also offered for people who want a physical copy. The straightforward track titles give the project a playful structure, while the combination of house, j-pop, vaporwave and lo-fi should appeal to anyone who likes digital nostalgia with a beat underneath it.
