Saint Petersburg's Draculina builds Sinematheque 26 around Polina Draculina's bass and songwriting, with a guitar-led instrumental sound that keeps close to surf rock while leaning into film music, noir and gothic drama. Two guitars, bass VI, drums, percussion and keys give the tracks a broad frame, and the playing stays focused rather than turning into empty soundtrack mood. Evan Foster and Chris Barfield handle much of the guitar work, with Tom Ayres and Michael Purkhiser adding more six-string colour. Mani Metales contributes trumpet too.
Larry Mullins, whose credits include drums, percussion and keys, co-produced the LP with Draculina, and his keyboard work adds extra movie-house weight beneath the guitars. Harley Davidson of Deadbolt appears vocally on “Totem HD”, the clear break from the instrumental setup, while the digital version adds an instrumental take on “Tender Dracula”. Fans of surf guitar, soundtrack records and darker instrumental rock should have a good time here, especially if The Boss Martians or The Huntington Cads are familiar names. Sinematheque 26 is a paid release due on August 7, with a vinyl LP and FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and MP3 editions.
