Waterfront dining's back with another cassette of late-night slow jams that sound like they were found in a forgotten bin at a 90s mall. Shades 影 is ten tracks of that slick, slowed-down funk and R&B that the vaporwave scene has been orbiting for years, but this one leans harder into the soul side of things. The beats are cushioned, the basslines are round, and the whole thing sits at a temperature that says "3 AM and the streetlights are humming."
It's free on Bandcamp, which is good because you'll want to put it on loop. Whitespace put it out, and the cassette design by moderntowers looks like a faded photo from a night you barely remember. Tracks like "everlovinme" and "eternally" stretch out their samples into something that feels more like a memory than a song. "a to z (diet coke)" is exactly as silly as it sounds and exactly as good as you hope.
If you already own Haircuts for Men's entire discography or you've worn out that Saint Pepsi tape, this lands in the same pocket. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's trying to make you feel a specific kind of warm and slow, and it works.
