Atlanta four-piece Ultra Lights make a sharp, guitar-led debut on Pleasure's All Yours. John Robinson's songs move through punchy hooks, steady bass and drums, and choruses built to be shouted back, with Leela Hoehn adding guitar and vocals alongside him. The album opens with its title track and runs for 11 songs, keeping the pace up through “Good Enough,” “Bad Feeling,” “Wild on the Outside,” and “Got Damage.” The touchstones are clear enough, from Pavement and The Strokes to The Clean and Pixies, but the band keeps the writing direct rather than turning the references into costume.
Robinson's lyrics deal in doubt, frustration, unmet expectations, and the dull pressure of modern life. Some of it leans nihilistic, though the melodies and group-ready refrains push against total collapse. That tension gives the album its pull. It sounds made for a small room where the guitars cut through and everyone knows the chorus by the second pass. Kris Sampson recorded and mixed the album at Sampson Sound in 2025 and 2026, with production shared by Sampson and Robinson and mastering from Mikey Young. Chunklet Industries is handling the vinyl release, with CD also available.
