Philtropolis comes from Philtron, a Hamburg project active since 1996, but its musical clock points back to the mid-1990s. Recorded in 1995 and 1996 and first issued on CD in 1996, it gathers 13 tracks shaped by pop, electropop, new wave and synthpop. The titles move between romance, machinery and space, from “Gift Of Love” and “Somewhere Between Love And Hate” to “Machines”, “Planet” and “Lost Planet”.
That gives the album a clear retro-electronic frame, with melodic songwriting at the centre rather than a purely instrumental approach. “Counting Down”, “Soul For Sale” and “Running Away” point to a direct pop sensibility, while the linked “Lost” and “Lost Planet” suggest a recurring thread across the tracklist. Philtron is credited alongside Sven Enzelmann, Janne Roeper and Rico Mummbauer, and the release appears through the PHILTRON label. Anyone drawn to 1990s synthpop, Hamburg electronic pop or new wave should find familiar ground here. It’s a paid release, available as 320 kbps MP3, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF.
