Danny Ayala’s Only Fools Love Again is a bright, hook-first pop record with glam-rock lift, power-pop snap and a little punk impatience. The ten songs suggest a taste for compact melodies and big refrains, moving from the self-reproach of “I Was Wrong” to the return plea in “I Wanna Come Back To You,” with titles like “Smile For Me” and “Life’s Always Worth It” keeping the emotional stakes plain and direct. It’s retro-minded without treating the past like a costume party, drawing on the polished pop traditions associated with the RAK and Bell labels while keeping one foot in scrappier rock ’n’ roll.
Ayala is also a touring bassist and keyboardist with The Lemon Twigs, so the album comes from the same Hicksville, Long Island pop scene that has made glam and power pop feel current again. There’s no need to know the older records behind it to get the songs, though people already fond of classic pop craft, glam records and sharp-edged power pop will find plenty to latch onto. Released on September 26, 2025, it’s available as a paid download in MP3, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF, with a vinyl LP for the shelf.
