This is the first new WAX record in a while, and it is exactly what you want from the guy. Two long tracks, one per side. 11110A runs deep and patient, dub techno with the kick drum pushed forward and the chords sinking into a slow, clean reverb. It sounds like a system check for a club that is still empty, which is the whole appeal. 11110B is more of the same but a degree warmer, with a bassline that moves just enough to keep the head nodding and some metallic percussion flickering in the background. No surprises, no deviation from the blueprint R. Pawlowitz has had since the early 90s. If you know Basic Channel or Maurizio or the original run of WAX 12-inches, you know exactly what this does. It comes on vinyl through Nowt Recordings, distributed by Hard Wax, the same Berlin infrastructure that has been carrying this sound for decades. The digital files are sold as heavyweight data, which is a fun way to say they are not compressed to death. This is for people who want their dub techno straight, no extra parts. Not for beginners. Not for anyone looking for melody or movement. Just locked grooves and space.

Two long, patient dub techno tracks from the Berlin veteran.
