New York duo Bunny X bring their 1980s-facing pop to a third full-length with Love On A High Floor, released by Aztec Records. The palette is built from synthpop, synthwave, italo disco and eurodance, with the glossy officewave angle suggested by the titles, from “Business Trip” to “After Hours”. It’s a vocal album rather than an instrumental exercise, and the songs lean into romance, nightlife and high-rise ambition without leaving the dance floor behind.
Long-time collaborators SelloRekt and LA Dreams appear across several tracks, while Don Dellpiero joins “Starting Dreams” and The Lightning Kids help close the set on “Lovers”. There are useful changes in colour too. Mary Hanley sings on “Even If We Don’t Talk”, Chip Cosby adds lead guitar to “After Hours”, Tony Lake takes a guitar solo on “Take Me Away”, and The Lightning Kids bring backing vocals and guitar to the finale. Bunny X’s Abigail Gordon and Jenny Bates share the writing and production with John Bourke, Kevin Montgomery and the other credited collaborators. Anyone drawn to polished 80s pop, romantic Italo disco and the New York retrowave scene should find plenty to enjoy here, especially with the vinyl and CD editions available alongside the digital release.
