Five tracks of spiky Leicester post-punk recorded at Quad Studios with Donald Ross Skinner behind the desk. Glitch Magnet run two guitars against each other, one standard, one credited as abrasive, and the friction between them gives these songs their serrated edge. Alison's vocals cut through without needing to shout, while the rhythm section keeps things taut and propulsive.
The opening track reworks an earlier piece. McQueens and The Year Pull Broke hit hardest, built around angular riffs and sudden dynamic shifts that recall early-2000s art rock without copying it directly. Nether Edge slows the tempo but keeps the tension. Souvenirs closes things out with a bit more space in the arrangement, though it never quite relaxes.
This is for people who want their rock music to have some grit and some thought behind it. Not polished, not trying to be. The production is clean enough to hear what each instrument is doing but rough enough to let the performances breathe. Available as a free download in lossless formats.
