Vancouver's ACTORS deal in the kind of darkwave that knows its way around a post-punk bassline. It Will Come To You leans hard on drum machines and reverb-soaked guitars, vocals delivered with that flat, distant affect the genre demands. Tracks like "Slaves" and "Face Meets Glass" lock into tight, propulsive grooves that wouldn't sound out of place on a Factory Records compilation, while "Crystal" slows things down into colder, more spacious territory.
The production keeps everything crisp but never warm. Synth lines cut through the mix with an icy clarity, and the rhythm section stays mechanical in that deliberate, programmed way. There's little here that strays from the template, this is darkwave that respects its influences without trying to reinvent them. "L'appel Du Vide" opens with a driving pulse that sets the tone for the rest of the record: controlled, nocturnal, built for basement clubs with low ceilings.
For anyone drawn to the colder end of post-punk or the more structured side of goth, this delivers. It's not trying to surprise you, but it executes its ideas cleanly. The kind of record that works best after dark.
