Nate Amos has been making This Is Lorelei since 2014, and Holo Boy takes an unusual route through that history. These ten songs were written between 2014 and 2021, drawn from nine earlier releases, then recorded again in May 2025 as a new sequence rather than a greatest-hits set. The result feels personal without becoming archival. Amos has picked songs that still have some life in them, not necessarily the obvious ones.
The music is guitar pop with a loose, homemade pull. Acoustic strums carry the melodies, while electric guitars add a light, thrumming lift, and the live drums keep everything moving with a quick, human snap. Amos recorded most of it in a closet-sized room in his Bed-Stuy apartment, which helps preserve the directness of the original This Is Lorelei songs. There’s plenty here for anyone drawn to tuneful indie pop, singer-songwriters with odd angles, or records that sound assembled by instinct rather than committee. Holo Boy is available as a paid release with FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF downloads, plus vinyl and CD.
