Carsie Blanton and The Burning Hell make political pop with a grin and a raised fist. Everything is Great moves from direct, slogan-sized songs about billionaires, war and private equity to comic pieces about cybernetics and the collapse of capitalism. The writing is pointed, but the tone stays playful, with absurd titles such as “Fascists Are Good,” “Price of Eggs” and “Live Laugh Loot” giving the album plenty of bite without turning it into a lecture.
The core band is joined by Ariel Sharratt, Mathias Kom and Joe Plowman, with Frank Kilkelly adding guitar and fiddle, Dónal McConnon bringing trombone, percussion and clarinet, and Sharon Shannon playing melodeon on three tracks. Those extra instruments give the indie pop framework a strong folk and Irish lift, especially on the songs built for a group voice. Recorded in Kinvara in November 2025 and mixed and mastered in Philadelphia, it comes from a small, collaborative session but aims outward. Anyone drawn to sharp political songwriting, theatrical humour and anthems that can still sound warm should find plenty here, though the jokes are as blunt as the targets.
