Pink Breath of Heaven is Liv Field and Rex John Shelverton from San Francisco. Their debut album Colors Make a Sound moves between dream pop and shoegaze with a psych rock edge. Guitars shimmer and bend. Field's vocals stay calm and a little distant, like she is singing from another room. The rhythm section keeps things grounded. Tracks like “Blue Is the Morning” and “Look Inside” build slowly, layering noise and melody. The whole thing feels like a long drive at dusk. It was put out by Little Cloud Records on vinyl and digitally. Shortly after release the band signed with Westward, an LA label distributed by Warner ADA. If you liked early Ride or the softer side of My Bloody Valentine, this one is worth a listen. It is not trying to break new ground. It just does what it does well.
