AutoMoto Animus places Phideaux Xavier in the art rock and progressive rock camp, with a psychedelic edge and a concept built around motion, impact, collapse and renewal. The track titles move from “Do What U Will” and “Driving To Destruction” through “Siren In The Storm” to “Enigmatic Terminus”, giving the album a clear sense of forward movement and consequence. It sounds like a release for people who enjoy a record with a larger frame than a set of unrelated songs, even if the available notes leave the specific instrumentation and mix choices undescribed.
Phideaux released the album through its own Phideaux label after recordings made between 2021 and 2025 at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles. Paul Roessler produced the sessions, with Rich Mouser handling the mix and further production at The Mouse House in Altadena. The paid edition comes in FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and 320 kbps MP3, alongside vinyl and CD. Bonus tracks add demos and alternate mixes, which should appeal to anyone who likes hearing how a progressive rock project changes shape before its final form. Fans of narrative psychedelic rock and studio-built prog will find the strongest reason to investigate here.
