Les Louanges wraps French lyrics around arrangements that shift between indie pop hooks, jazz phrasing and hip hop production. Alouette! comes from Montreal's Bonsound and leans into that city's habit of treating genre as suggestion rather than instruction. Horns appear, then drop out. Beats stay loose. Vincent Roberge, the person behind the project, sings conversational lines over tracks that change texture without telegraphing the move.

The fifteen songs here don't resolve into one sound. Some lean on live drums and guitar, others on programmed loops and bass synth. "Au pied de la montagne" builds around a piano figure that could be jazz or chamber pop depending on what else is happening. "GODDAMN!" pushes harder, closer to alt-rock with distortion and a raised voice. The sequencing doesn't smooth those edges, it lets them sit next to each other.

This is for people who want French-language songwriting that doesn't stay in the folk or chanson lane, and who don't need every track to sound like the last. It asks more attention than background music usually gets.

Montreal's Les Louanges mixes indie pop, jazz phrasing and hip hop production across fifteen French-language tracks that shift texture without warning.
