Terms and Conditions

Last updated 20 August 2026. These terms cover your use of the Quetzal Player application and this website.

The short version. You buy a licence to use Quetzal, once, with no subscription. We do not take your data. Apple handles the money and the refunds.

Who you are dealing with

Quetzal Player is made and operated by Geowiza, registered in Mexico(“we”, “us”). Contact us through the contact form.

What you are buying

Quetzal is downloaded free and plays MP3 files without payment. Pro is a single non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks lossless, hi-res and DSD file playback, exclusive device access, integer mode, upsampling, parametric EQ and the hardware transport skin.

You are buying a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the software — not ownership of it. The purchase is one-time: there is no recurring charge, and no separate fee for point updates. It is tied to your Apple ID under Apple’s standard terms, so it survives reinstalling, a new Mac, or a restore from backup.

The trial

A 14-day trial unlocks every Pro feature. It requires no card and no account, runs once per Mac, and ends by returning the app to the free tier. Nothing is charged automatically, ever.

Payment and refunds

All purchases are made through the Mac App Store, where Apple is the merchant of record. Apple’s terms govern the transaction, and refunds are handled by Apple through Report a Problem in your App Store purchase history — we cannot issue them ourselves.

If something is broken rather than merely disappointing, write to us first. We would rather fix it.

What you may not do

Do not redistribute, resell, rent or sublicense the application; do not attempt to circumvent the Pro entitlement check or share a means of doing so; do not use Quetzal to infringe anyone’s copyright. Quetzal is a player for files you already have — it does not supply music, and what you play through it is your responsibility.

What we promise, and what we do not

We will make a genuine effort to keep Quetzal working and to fix what is broken. Beyond that, the software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every audio device — hardware behaviour varies, and some devices do not expose exclusive access or integer mode at all.

Quetzal reads your files and does not modify or delete them. Even so, keep backups of anything you value; that is true of any software.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the application. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you buy as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Third-party components

Quetzal includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in the application. Internet radio uses a community-maintained station directory; the streams themselves are operated by third parties and their availability and content are not ours.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and material changes will be noted on the site. These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, and disputes fall to the courts of Mexico City, Mexico.
