Austin trio Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol push their big-riff approach into more melodic territory on Ca$h Grab. Leo Lydon’s 8-string guitar drops a huge low end over Aaron Metzdorf’s distorted bass chords, while Sean St. Germain keeps the songs moving with sharp beat changes and explosive, syncopated drumming. The heavy parts hit harder, but the hooks get more room, with high vocal lines on “Fate Is”, “Peaches” and the title track. There’s still plenty of blunt-force metal here, though the writing also nods toward Green Album-era Weezer, Built To Spill and Sugar.
That shift gives the album a more exposed feel than its joking title suggests. Metzdorf takes lead on five of the 14 tracks, including the slow-building quiet-loud opener “Freakshow”, while Lydon handles the more soaring moments. Alberto De Icaza’s engineering, mixing and mastering keep the guitar, bass and drums packed tightly together, which suits songs built around weight and momentum. Fans of stoner rock, groove metal and heavy music with an ear for indie-pop melody should find plenty to grab onto. Ca$h Grab is a paid release due October 23, 2026, with LP, CD, cassette and download editions.
