Jamie Paige's c-sides is a five-track collection of stray material from the current era, released ahead of the ten-year mark since Paige began releasing music. Written and recorded by Paige, it keeps the unmastered presentation intact, so the edges are part of the point rather than something polished away. The songs move through pop, electro pop and synth pop, with vocal synthesis doing much of the character work. Anri appears on “papergirl” alongside mostly Paige's own voice, while “little anger” uses Yi Xi and “ringtone” combines Eleanor Forte with Anri Arcane.
The credits give a clear picture of the palette without pretending these tracks came from one fixed setup. “One small moment of silence” brings together Nyl, Solaria, Saros and Asterian, with EWI from Mizu, and “some more of that song” uses Kasane Teto SV. That changing cast of voices makes the set feel like a snapshot of experiments and unfinished corners, rather than a tightly unified album. Paige has been active since 2016, and this Bandcamp-exclusive release has the feel of a personal archive opened up for anyone interested in vocal synth pop, electronic songwriting and the less formal side of a long-running practice. It won't suit anyone looking for a glossy master, but that isn't what it's trying to be.
