PARKiNG's PORTRAiTS is a ten-track set built from art rock, post-punk and gothic rock, with a lineup that can move between tight band interplay and broader arranged passages. Lizzie Cooper handles bass and vocals, Boss Benson plays electric guitar, while T. Moore covers drums, vocals, more guitar, percussion and the orchestral arrangements. That gives the album a wider palette than a standard guitar trio, without losing its rock footing. The track titles suggest a record with an eye for sharp images and odd turns, from “Siren” and “Monolith” to “Mike Johnson is a Mechanic” and “And death i think is no perenthesis.”
PARKiNG come from Louisville, and have been active since 1969. PORTRAiTS was recorded in January 2025 at Electrical Audio in Chicago, with the orchestral parts recorded at End of an Ear back home. Nick Netherton produced it and Will Killingsworth mastered it, while Garrett Davis made the artwork. The paid release is available as MP3 320, FLAC 16/44, ALAC, WAV and AIFF. Anyone drawn to Louisville's art-rock and post-punk lineage, especially records that leave room for orchestral colour without abandoning guitars, should find a lot to investigate here.
