Released through Ovven Publishing on February 6, 2026, Gnawing At The Cord is a ten-song set built from Owen Burton’s songs and a plainly band-focused lineup. Burton handles vocals and guitar, including b-bender Telecaster, while Alex Farrar covers keys, piano, bass, drums and guitar. Dave Hartley adds bass, Matt Winship and AJ Donahue are credited on drums, and fiddle from Libby Rodenbough plus flugelhorn and trumpet by Clay White broaden the country-rock palette.
The source tags place it between country, alt-country, heartland rock, indie rock and shoegaze, so the likely appeal is to anyone who likes guitar music to keep one boot in Nashville and the other near the indie-rock amp. The b-bender points toward country phrasing, while fiddle and brass give the arrangements more colour than a basic guitar, bass and drums setup. Farrar produced, mixed and engineered the album, which was recorded at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, with Greg Obis mastering. It’s available as a paid release on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
