Hey, ily!'s Internet Breath is a small, sharply defined meeting of bedroom pop, chiptune, emo and power pop from Saint Paul. The six-track set runs from “DigitalLung.exe” through “Pretty Boi”, with titles that give the whole thing a playful, screen-lit frame. Chiptune colour and lo-fi roughness sit alongside the direct emotional pull of emo and the quick, hook-minded energy of power pop. It sounds aimed at the point where homemade pop craft and online-era weirdness start sharing the same room.
Released on April 30, 2021 by Lonely Ghost Records, the album was written, recorded, performed, mixed and mastered by Hey, ily! That one-person credit gives Internet Breath a clear DIY identity, while the fifth wave emo tag places it in a newer, internet-shaped emo culture rather than a polished mainstream pop lane. Listeners drawn to bedroom pop that keeps its digital edges, or emo and power pop with a chiptune accent, should find a natural fit here. The paid release comes as FLAC 16/44, MP3 320, ALAC, WAV and AIFF, with a vinyl LP too. Artwork is by Ota Jaider.
