Fields of Mist is back on ILIAN TAPE with a five-track 12-inch that does not sit still. The Munich producer jumps between tempos and moods over twenty minutes flat. Masters of the Known Universe! opens with breakbeats that feel like they are falling apart and then lock back together. Alien Lifeforms is cold, empty techno with a kick drum that hits like a door slamming in a concrete room. The Lazurite Closer flips into something slower, almost druggy, with thick bass and snare hits that land late every time. Intergalactic Rose closes it with a submerged beat and long synth tones that just hang there. It is disorienting in the best way. The whole thing sounds like a DJ set from a spaceship with bad signal. Tangible Air mastered it, so the transients are sharp and the low end has room to breathe. If you liked the earlier ITX records from Fields of Mist, this continues that same restless energy. Drum and bass heads who also want broken beat and weird ambient sections should check it. Not for people who need a consistent tempo or a steady four-on-the-floor. The vinyl release is out through ILIAN TAPE's subscription and select shops.
